The special session of the KHADC pass the delimitation bill 2013

Shillong, Dec 14:  The special session of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) which sit today pass the delimitation Bill, 2013 amidst protest from the opposition. The bill will be sent to the government to get the assent of the Governor.

The  members of the KHNAM made a protest against  the  Bills saying that what is the urgency of calling the special session just to pass the delimitation bill. Carmel Sohtun MDC from Laitkroh, Adelbert Nongrum   MDC from Jaiaw, J B Basaiawmoit, Latiplang Kharkongor said that they received the notice of this special session only today morning.

The MDC of Laitkroh tear the Bills saying that the bill was against the will of the people, he even alleged that the ruling party has done this for their political gain. Adelbert  Nongrum question about the urgency of calling the session.

Latiplang MDC from Nongthymmai asked weather calling of this special session ha got the approval of the Governor, the Chairman of the Council Fabian Lyngdoh said that when more than 20 MDC sign the requisition to call the special session it not required to get the approval of the governor.

Both the members from the ruling and opposition pointed out there is a lot of mistake in the name of the villages in the list of the delimitation which members want to correct it. After the discussion the Former CEM Manstudy Nongrem asked the house let this minor correction be done by the legislative and allowed the bill to be passed.

The CEM of the KHADC Mr PN Syiem move the Bill and the Dilimitation Bill was passed with voice vote. The CEM thank all the members of the august house and whished every one to win the election MDC that will be held next year.(SP News)
