Meghalaya, June 04: On the 5th day of the VKSA campaign, all Meghalaya KVKs successfully conducted the program across 63 villages and 15 blocks with an active participation of 7354 participants.
The campaign aims to uplift the farming community by imparting modern agricultural technologies and government schemes, ultimately strengthening the farming community and improving agricultural practices across all districts.
The topics that were covered during the campaign included farm mechanisation, vegetable cultivation practices, judicious use of control chemicals and fertilisers, fisheries, poultry, duckery, goatery, piggery, agroforestry, climate change and climate resilient traditional cultivars.
Coping with natural calamities and mitigation, mushroom cultivation, custom hiring centres, use of latest technology in agriculture like nano fertilisers and drones, controlled environment agriculture, spice cultivation, soil and water conservation, vertical farming.
Integrated farming systems, natural farming, awareness on rabies, diseases of farm animals, Composting, Latest technologies for kharif crops to the farmers and farm women’s, for better crop productivity and income, Farming tools and implements and their practices and importance for drudgery reduction and higher income.
Bio-enhancer, slurry methods for transplanted rice and vegetables, Improved crop production techniques, mushroom cultivation animal health and vaccination, organic farming, integrated pest and disease management.
Introduction and briefing about salient points of the VKSA Pre- Kharif campaign, Natural farming, Storage of ginger against bud rot, Optimum Feeding of Poultry, Vaccination of pigs, Proper management against diseases and cost in pigs and poultry, Package of practices for cultivation of paddy, Millets cultivation.
Resource Conservation Technologies, Formation and management of FPOs/FPCs, Agribusiness and Incubation Centre and Entrepreneurship Development, Modern Technologies regarding Poultry Production, Animal Feed and Health Management.
Awareness on improved farm technologies such as IFS – paddy cum fish, fisheries discipline, Organic farming practices natural farming practices and their importance, Balanced use of fertilizers for maximizing the yield and minimize the environmental impact.
Awareness created for smart farming using ICT tools and modern equipment for agricultural crop production, cultivation of various horticulture and agriculture crops and information on various crop varieties developed by ICAR Research Complex, Umiam, African Swine Fever and its control measures, Agriculture schemes, Importance of Radio as a means of ICT tool was provided to the farmers.
Extension literature on Resource conservation technologies, Integrated Nutrient Management , Good agricultural practices for Meghalaya Soil, Integrated farming systems, composting, improved crop varieties, citrus rejuvenation, and Jalkund.
Natural Farming, Nutri Cereals, new varieties of rice, maize, low-cost tunnel polyhouse, AAU Low-cost evaporative cool structure, Manual type turmeric slicer, Technologies on animal Science like Kalinga brown, White Pekin, Lumsniang.
Package of practices of buckwheat cultivation, Millets cultivation-Importance, scope and prospects, Organic management practices of Lakadong turmeric, Silage preparation Rearing of Labeo gonius and Cyprius Caprio in Meghalaya, Application of Agricultural machinery in Custom Hiring Centres.
Organic practices and management of pest and diseases, Composting, Biofertilizers, Maize cultivation, Indigeneous Technical Knowledge, Hydroponics, Agricultural practices for kharif crops including rice cultivation, Use of Seedling root dipping in SSP-CAU, Bioenhancer amended slurry method for transplanted rice and vegetables, Disease management in Animals was widely distributed to the farmers.
Farmers were also informed about a variety of Central and State government schemes such as PM-KISAN, PKVY, PMKSY, KCC, MOVCD, MIDH, EDP, NADCP, SMAM, NFSM, insurance schemes for crops and animals ,State Organic Mission, PRIME, Kisan Sarathi, PMFDY, State rice mission.
Plant protection scheme including IPM, Organic Manure scheme and SMAM, Subsidy schemes on vegetable seeds (75%), Potato (50%), ginger (75%), apiculture mission, Pack house (50%), Polyhouse (50%), water harvesting pond (50%), Fruit trees (50%),Soil Health Card, PM-FME,MOVCD, Vegetable development scheme and Fruit Development Scheme.
Farmers also received quality seeds of vegetables, rice, and millets in preparation for the Kharif season, Climate-resilient rice seeds, Azolla seeds, vegetable seeds like Maize, Bitter Gourd, Carrot, beans, agricultural tools for nutritional garden.
The campaign focused on empowering farmers by integrating modern technologies into their farming practices ultimately aiming to improve farmers economic and socio well being.
