Shillong, Jan 29: Lieutenant General Mohit Wadhwa, SM, GOC, 101 Area exhorted the ex-servicemen community of East Khasi Hills to carry the spirit of nationalism and service to the nation to the furthest corners of Meghalaya. Addressing a large group of veterans, Veer Naris, Veer Mata and service dependents as the Chief Guest in a Ex-servicemen Rally, he thanked all for their valour, sacrifice and dedication to the duty while in uniform.
He urged the audience to motivate the Youth to join the Armed Forces and contribute positively towards nation building and development of the state. In his address to the veterans, Lt Gen Mohit Wadhwa, re-affirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces towards the veterans and reassured them of all assistance to meet their needs and aspirations.
The rally, conducted under the aegis of the Rajya Sainik Board and HQ 101 Area, Shillong at 58 Gorkha Training Centre, Happy Valley was aimed at providing solutions to the ex-servicemen community to address their medical, pension, resettlement, and entrepreneurship queries.
State Government initiatives like the CM ELEVATE programme, Legal Clinics under SLA, Rural Bank, Skilling Stall with Treasury representatives along with SPARSH pension management system, Project Naman Common Service Center, Directorate of Resettlement, Army Recruiting Office, Army Welfare Placement Organisation, and ECHS medical schemes were prominently showcased. A Medical Camp with an array of specialist doctors was also present to provide medical advice and medical aids to the Ex Servicemen.
