Tura, March 24: As part of Jal Mahotsav, 2026, the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, West Garo Hills, along with the communities and students of the district, celebrated the World Water Day and Jal Arpan Diwas at Working Women’s Hostel conference hall, Tura on Monday.
Shri Nipon Hajong, MCS, ADC & Project Director, DRDA, graced the occasion as the chief guest in the presence of Superintending Engineer, Shri A D Sangma, EE, PHE North Division Tura, Shri R P Marak, other officials of the department, school students, and representatives from different villages of the district.
The program highlighted the activities conmducted during the two-week long Jal Mahotsav from March 9 to March 23, 2026.
Jal Arpan Diwas or the celebration of completion and handing over of projects in respect of three villages, namely, Anangpara under Dalu Block, and Ganol Songma and Allagre under Rongram Block was also held during the program .
The community representatives were briefed on the process of handing over and taking over of the JJM schemes.
Later, the winners of drawing and essay competitions, conducted for the students on 19th March, 2026 at Pattian Secondary School, Darenggre, Gambegre Block, were felicitated with cash prizes and certificates.
