Maligaon, Oct 07: Northeast Frontier Railway’s (NFR) Bharat Scouts and Guides organised the Rajya Puraskar Award Rally at Rang Bhawan and the State Training Centre, Maligaon, from 3rd to 5th October, 2026. The Rajya Puraskar Award is considered as the highest award a Scouts, Guides, Rovers and Rangers can earn in the State level.
The programme was graced by the presence of Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of NFR, Chief Patron of NFR Bharat Scouts and Guides and Smt. Shalini Shrivastava, President of Northeast Frontier Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (NFRWWO).
The rally recognised Scouts, Guides, Rovers and Rangers who qualified for the Rajya Puraskar, also known as the Governor’s Award, for the years 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25. Five members qualified for 2022-23, 135 members for 2023-24 and 181members for 2024-25.
The award-giving ceremony on 5th October brought together 293 participants, comprising awardees, cultural and band teams, and district officials from the district associations of NFR Bharat Scouts and Guides.
Rajya Puraskar, also known as the Governor’s Award, is the highest state-level recognition for Scouts, Guides, Rovers and Rangers. In Railway associations, it is conferred by the Chief Patron and General Manager of the respective Zonal Railway.
Candidates earn the award after obtaining the required proficiency badges and successfully completing a five day testing camp, where qualified examiners assess their knowledge and skills. This achievement also enables eligible members to prepare for the national level President’s Award testing camp.
Bharat Scouts and Guides of NFR has also earned distinction through several national awards and dedicated community service. This year, 24 Scouts, Guides, Rovers and Rangers received the prestigious Rashtrapati Awards, while 94 Cubs and Bulbuls received the Golden Arrow Award. During Ambubachi Mela 2026, 225 members rendered round-the-clock assistance to pilgrims at Kamakhya Dham.
Volunteers also extended flood reliefs to affected families in Sivasagar and Jorhat districts with support from NFRWWO. Their contributions further included cleanliness drives, environmental awareness campaigns, skill-development programmes, road-safety street plays, drinking-water distribution and crowd management at railway stations.
The Rajya Puraskar rally highlighted the commitment of NFR Bharat Scouts and Guides towards discipline, leadership, teamwork and community service. By recognising the achievements of its young members, NFR continues to encourage responsible citizenship and the spirit of voluntary service, inspiring them to contribute meaningfully to the Railways and society.
