Shillong Dec 11: Taking a positive role in bringing about a change in the society, the youth belonging to the KJP Assembly pressed on the need to eradicate the unabated congestion which is on the rise in the city.
The youth parliament of the KJP Assembly who gathered at the Khasi National durbar hall at Mawkhar, here on Tuesday to discuss on various strategies to bring about a change in the society and decided to urge upon the government to include all the stakeholders from the government down to the local organizations to contribute and work together for a solid action to eradicate congestion
It was also opined that it is high time for the society to come up with a solution to do away with the acute congestion of Shillong city and its suburbs through adhering to housing policy & rules, broaden, widen and provide communicable space in roads, lanes and bye-lanes, market areas, industrial areas, office vicinities and other institutional areas as well other avenues available so that the capital city and its suburbs will have space for mobility besides others.
They also felt the need to bring back the cleanliness and hygienic condition of Shillong and its suburbs which will be maintained 24 hours, 7 days a week, the whole month and through-out through uprooting all kinds of filth, dirt and grime on the roads, road-side, residential areas, market, industrial, office, institutional areas, drains, hills and valleys, streams and rivers, forest areas, including giving no room for air, water and soil pollution.(SP News)
