Shillong, January 09: The Central Bureau of Investigation, Anti-Corruption Branch, Shillong in Case No. RCSHG2011A0009 dt. 23.12.2011 filed Charge Sheet on 29.12.2012 before the Ld. Court of Special Judge, CBI, Assam, Guwahati against 4 (four) accused public servants namely (1) Md. Islam Uddin Laskar, the then Branch Post Master of Algapur Part-V Branch Post Office, Hailakandi, Assam, (2) Md. Aftab Uddin Laskar, Zilla Parishad Member of Algapur & Mohanpur, Hailakandi, (3) Md. Altaf Hussain Mazumdar, the then Junior Engineer, Algapur Development Block, Hailakandi, (4) Md. Rafique Uddin Barbhuiya, the then Gram Panchayat Secretary of Algapur, Hailakandi and 6 (six) accused private persons namely (1) Md. Sahin Ahmed Laskar, (2) Md. Shahnewaz Laskar @ Liton Ahmed, (3) Md. Salim Uddin Barbhuiya, (4) Md. Salim Uddin Mazumdar, (5) Md. Abdul Kayum Barbhuiya & (6) Md. Salim Uddin Barbhuiya @ Soidul, all from Hailakandi, Assam.
The Charge Sheet was filed against the aforesaid 10 (ten) accused persons U/s 120B, 420 468, 471 IPC and Section 13(2) R/w 13 (1) (d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for fraudulently and dishonestly opening of 185 Post Office SB Accounts in the names of fictitious Job Car Holders under MGNREGA and subsequent withdrawals of the credited amount released by the govt. towards payment of wages from the respective SB Accounts, and misappropriation of the entire funds for total amounting to Rs.16,93,300/- during the year 2009-2011, without actually executing the works at site.(SP News)
