Shillong, Jan 16: The Civil Society Women’s Organisation (CSWO) under the president ship of Agnes Khaarshiing on Wednesday stated that Irene Hujon is no longer a member of the CSWO as she has herself expressed the desire to stop working with the organization in the year 2008.
Clarifying its present stands, Civil Society Women’s Organisation (CSWO) on Wednesday submitted a letter to the Chief Secretary.
Informing reporters General Secretary CSWO, Evangeline Thabah said that Hujon is no longer associated with the organization.
“As she herself expressed her desire to stop working with the organization in the year 2008, as she had to look after her ailing father,” Thabah informed.
She also added that as for Christabel Wanniang she was not a member of the CSWO when the organization was duly registered with the Registrar of Societies. This can be verified with the Police at Lumdiengjri Police station and at the Sadar Police Station, where the documents have been submitted and verified.
“The indulgence of Irene Hujon and Christabel Wanniang and a few others is to impersonate as the CSWO members, and creating confusion, is being supported by few people in the Police and in the Government who want to remove the Present President of the CSWO, Agnes Kharshiing,” Thabah said.
We therefore urge the Government to look into the matter and respect the present working members and President Agnes Kharshiing, who have always been lawfully fighting for the rights of the oppressed in the society.(SP News)
