The EC is aware that Indian settler in Bhoganj Constituency has no vote

Shillong, January 27: The election commission of India is well aware that the Indian settler along the Indo Bangladesh Border under  Bholaganj Constituency has not vote. This people living in this area include Garo, Hajong, Mendai, Kachari, all this people settle in the bordering with Bangladesh for generation has no place in the electoral roll.

This community from time to time has tried their best to get themselves enroll in the electoral role but they were prevented by many forces which the District administration has no choice but to delete their names from the electoral roll.

Just with one month left for the legislative assembly election these community had tried their best to get themselves enroll in the electoral roll in order to exercise their franchise but even this time they were prevented even after submitting their enrolment form with the office of the SDO civil of Sohra.

The election commission is aware that villages settle by this community is well recognized by the government; they were provided with all government grant, like ration. Hospital. Road connection and electricity but this people denied the right to vote.(SP News)
