Shillong, Feb 04: The Meghalaya Peoples Human Rights Council (MPHRC) has condemned the cowardly attack at the Williamnagar Jail in the “strongest terms” which resulted in the death of the Assistant Jailor Neil Warjri and Warder Sarai Singh Thabah who succumbed to his injuries at Tura Civil Hospital.
“These attacks are against both divine and human laws and we offer our deepest condolences to both families” said MPHRC
Calling for the swift apprehension and punishment of the perpetrators the MPHRC Secretary General Dino D.G. Dympep said that “there is no cause that justifies this type of an immoral and inhumane act and we call upon our justice system to maintain strict standards of justice and fairness in these trying times”.
MPHRC urged upon the government to see that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are brought to book and that law and order is maintained to prevent any communal disharmony for a peaceful co-existence.(SP News)
