Shillong, Feb 7: The residents of Mairang constituency has come up with an RTI that reveals misappropriation of funds by the sitting legislator from their constituency Metbah Lyngdoh.
The RTI filed by the people of Mairang constituency showed that Lyngdoh a UDP legislator was misusing the Public money.
Addressing a press conference here on M Thursday Mack Donald Nongrang a resident of Mairangbah informed that he had filed the RTI on December after a lot of people of the constituency expressed resentment over the implementation of the SRWP and IAY scheme.
Demanding the MLA to come clean on the allegation, Nongrang said, “ If the MLA does not pay heed to the demand, I will take it to higher authorities.”
It was also informed that as per the RTI findings, during the year 2009-2010, the MLA had sanction Rs 10, 000 under SRWP and Rs 30,000 for construction of low cost housing to 300 out of 304 beneficiaries. Similarly, the list of a total of 300 beneficiaries of SRWP was submitted by the MLA to BDO of Mairang during the year 2011-2012. However, a total of 54 beneficiaries have been recommended for the implementation of IAY scheme during 2010- 2011.
Besides, Nongrang also accused that the MLA was biased in the implementation of the scheme, stating that the poor and the deserving beneficiaries have been deprived and deceived as the list consists names of the people from a well to do background.(SP News)
