Shillong January 25: Together with the rest of the country, the 7th National Voters’ Day was celebrated in the state of Meghalaya in all the headquarter of the District, In Shillong the state capital the celebration was held in Shillong.
In the District headquarter was celebrated, at Ampati the district headquarters of South West Garo Hills district on Wednesday, where the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Cyril V.Darlong Diengdoh led the gathering taking the Voter’s Pledge and also distributed Elector’s Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) to the newly registered voters.
The 7th National Voters Day was celebrated at DRDA Multi Facility Centre, Tura today which was organized by the Election Department, West Garo Hills district. The theme for this year’s National Voters day is “Empowering Young and Future Voters”.
The Chief Guest Mr. Skylance G Momin, Retired IGP and President Council of Nokmas, emphasized on the need to create awareness amongst each voters about the responsibilities and fulfillment of the manifesto assured by the respective representatives during the time of election. He further urged the newly enrolled voters to exercise their power in the ensuing elections and thereby making our democracy stronger by selecting a suitable representative to serve the people of the region in particular.
West Jaintia Hills District celebrate the 7th National Voters Day at Jowai and facilitated the newly enrolled voters in the Conference Room DC’s Office, Jowai, on the theme “Empowering Young and Future Voters.”
Mr D.M Wahlang, i/c Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai, S.C Laloo, Additional Deputy Commissioner, (Election), H.M.L Kynta, EAC, Moonlight Pariat, Lahkmen Rymbui, O Lamin, H.B Dan, representatives from different localities were present.
Speaking on the occasion, D.M Wahlang, the Deputy Commissioner incharge of West Jaintia Hills reminded each one gathered to make use of their Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) during elections and to participate enthusiastically in the electoral process. He has especially urged the young and newly enrolled voters to have a clear conscience, to carry their EPIC’s and to franchise their right in the elections in the year to come 2018 and 2019.
With a view to encourage young and future voters the office of the Deputy Commissioner (EL), South West Khasi Hills District, Mawkyrwat has observed the National Voters’ Day on the 25th January, 2017 at the Multi Purpose Hall, Deputy Commissioner’s office, Mawkyrwat wherein Smt.R.Lyngdoh, Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills District as the Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Smti Lyngdoh said that the day was celebrated throughout the country with a view to increase participation of voters in the election process in a free and transparent manner thereby stating that the election commission has taken initiative in purifying the electoral process as well as in creating awareness especially in weaker sections in order to achieve a huge turnout of voters. She also reminds us of the importance of voting and the price of one’s vote.” Our vote is precious, one vote can make a difference”, she added. She then urged upon those who have attained 18 years of age to get themselves register for enrolment in the electoral roll and to help bring about a free, fair and peaceful election.
The Office of the Deputy Commissioner (Election), West Khasi Hills District, Nongstoin celebrated the 7thNational Voters Day today on the theme “Empowering Youth And Future Voters” at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) school campus Nongpyndeng.
Delivering the key note address, Shri. P.D.Sangma, ADC informed the gathering that National Voters Day was first celebrated in the year 2011, to commemorate the Election Commission of India and its main objectives were to increase the enrollment of the eligible voters and to enhance the electoral processes. Stating that youths should enroll themselves in the electoral roll, as the destiny of India lies in their hands and they will have to decide the future of the country.
