Shillong, November 03: The Forest and Environment minister Shri Prestone Tynsong while inaugurating the silver jubilee of the khasi vernacular newspaper “ U Rupang” at Dinam Hall said that Newspapers are the integral part of the Government and all NGO,s . In to-days world without newspaper what will happen he asked.
It is through the media that the activities of the government were highlighted and of the NGO’s too. While referring to what the Editor of U Rupang , he said that he will take up the matter with the government to see what the government can do.He (Prestone) mention that he saw fews news paper who lasted for a short time.
While speaking on this occasion, the proprietor and Editor of U Rupang Shri RM Shabong, narrated that he has started the Newspaper in the year 1988 as a weekly and in 1998 the paper was fully become a daily. In his short searched he has narrated the up and down of the newspaper.
Taking advantage of the situation, the Editor of U Rupang asked the minister to take the issue to the government to give some direction to all business house and industry to earmarked some money for advertisement for the local newspaper.(SP News)
