Shillong March 27: A nine membe delegation from the National Youth Hostels Association let by Dr Harish K Saxena, National President YHAI,met the Hon’ble Shri. Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary governor of Meghalaya on the 26th March 2013 atthe Raj Bhavan Shillong.
The
YHAI delegation briefed the Governor on the various youth programs initiated by the YHAI, such as Promoting Tourism, Youth Hostelling, Adventure Programs, Peace & International Understanding, Human Development & Youth Leadership, Promoting clean environment, and Social & Cultural understanding
They also briefed the Governor that the YHAI on 25th March 2013, opened the 88th licensee Youth Hostel in collaboration with Mrs J Phanbuh, Owner of Saimika Park in Sohra (Cherrapunjee) in presence of Shri. C Diengdoh, IAS, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Sohra, East Khasi Hills District, and officials of YHAI.
The Governor lauded the voluntarary services of the YHAI and offered all assistance in the promotion of such activies in the State which has tremendous potential in tourism. On hearing about the valuable work of the YHAI he sanction instantly sanctioned a sum of Rs 1 Lakh as assistance to the Meghalaya YHAI to further promote and extend similar activities in Meghalaya.
