Shillong, May 26: The Eastern Command Inter –School Junior Table Tennis Championship was organised by Army Public School, Umroi Military Station on 25 May 2019.
At the Army Public School, Umroi Mil Stationn, Maj Gen Sanjeev Khatri, VSM, GOC 21 Mtn Div graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Director AWES Eastern Command, Col Sujit Dutta , Principals from various schools, state officials from Meghalaya Table Tennis association and other dignitaries witnessed the event.
For the first time ever in the history of 137 Army Public Schools, situated all over India , Eastern Command Inter School Junior Table Tennis Championship has been organised under the far sighted vision and guidance of the Director of AWES Eastern Command, Col Sujit Dutta . Out of 22 Schools among Eastern Command, 6 schools from 4 clusters qualified for the finals.
The event started with the inaugural ceremony followed by a march past and oath taking ceremony. The matches were played under Singles (Boys) and Mixed Doubles categories.
Master Dwirad Saikia of Class VI from APS Narangi won the singles (boys) and Master Arnav Patra of Class VII from APS Bengdubi was declared the runners up.
Master Kingshuk Das of class V and Ms. Ishani Dutta of class VI from APS Sukna won the mixed doubles. Master Aryaman Singh and Miss Tejaswini Deo of Class VIII from APS Gangtok won the runners up.
The overall Championship Trophy was lifted by Army Public School, Sukna and the overall runners up Trophy was won by Army Public School, Gangtok.
