Shillong, June 24: The first Shillong unit of the Hill State People Democratic Party (HSPDP) was formed on Monday with 23 members elected as office bearers.
The party’s new unit with Dr Kara Chen (associate professor) as its president was formed in a gathering held at Seminar Hall, State Central Library here on Monday in the presence of veteran polician, HS Lyngdoh who is also the president of the HSPDP, HSPDP Parliamentary Party (PP) spokesperson Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit, party member Edwin Raswai and Fenela L Nonglait besides others.
The other members of the party included Prain Sing Syiemlieh as the vice president, James M Sun as the general secretary, Banri Wahlang as the assistant general secretary, Dominic S Wankhar as the publicity secretary, Ksankupar Basaiawmoit as the assistant publicity secretary and former FKJGP leader Emlang Lytan as the chief organizer.
There are as many as six organising secretaries and ten executive members.
“Our focus is to strengthen the party and to break issues which concern the people and the state as a whole,” HSPDP legislator Ardent M Basaiawmoit said. (SP News)
