Shillong, July 3: The Khasi Student Union met the Home Minister Roshan Warjri to discuss on the implementation of the “Aadhaar” or the “Unique Identification Number” (UIN) in the state.
The KSU is of the opinion that the government to withhold the implementation of the UIN in the state as implementing of the UIN would bring about the problem of influx.
Talking to reporters after meeting the Home Minister KSU President Daniel Khyriem informed that a demand has been put forward to
first take the opinions of the stakeholders and also put in place a mechanism for controlling influx into the state.
According to the KSU leader the home minister has agreed to withhold the implementation of the UIN after inquiring about its from concerned authority as she is not aware of it.
Khyriem also suggested that the government must invite views and opinions of people and stakeholders before going ahead with the implementation of UIN.
He also said that the government should put in place a system to authenticate documents provided by the people especially from the non-indigenous residents while enrolling in this national exercise.”(SP News)
