Mairang, Sept 08: As part of the sensitization programme for grassroot level workers including ASHA and Anganwadi workers, a one day awareness programme on Disability and Rights of Persons With Disability Act was organized today by the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons With Disabilities, Shillong, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
The awareness was in collaboration with the State Resource Centre for Disability Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, the Commissioner of Persons With Disabilities, Government of Meghalaya and the Departments of Social Welfare and Health & Family Welfare, Government of Meghalaya at Tirot Sing Memorial Hall, Pyndengumiong, Mairang.
The programme featuring sensitization sessions by Shri R. J. Wahlang, Physiotherapist, Smti. I. Wahlang, Lecturer, CRC Shillong, Smti I. Shadap, Clinical Psychologist and Dr. M. Nongphud, Pathologist witnessed the enthusiastic participation of ASHAs and Anganwadi workers of Eastern West Khasi Hills District.
Among others who spoke at the programme include Shri Ram Shakal Sahani, Officer-in-Charge, CRC, Shillong and Akshay Kumar, Co-ordinator, CRC, Shillong.
