TURA, November 28 : The cricket team from Garo Hills, the
has shown perseverance and exceptional skills in the ongoing under -5 Meghalaya Inter District Cricket Tournament with the team reaching the semi finals of the tourney being played at the capital polo ground, Shillong.
In their first match against Jaintia Hills on 26th last, Garo Hills won the toss and elected to bat. They posed a target of 166 runs in the allotted 35 overs of the tourney. Jaintia Hills faced the onslaught of the Garo Hills bowlers courageously but were however bowled out for 102 runs in 33.4 overs.
In their second match against Ribhoi, Garo Hills won the toss again. Electing to bat the team set a modest target of 146 runs. To clinch their consecutive win Garo Hills thrashed Ribhoi who were bowled out in 18 overs for a paltry 64 runs.
The team is now eagerly waiting for the other results of the tournament and will play their semi final match on 30th November. Their performance has impressed everyone in Shillong and people in Garo Hills are hoping that some of them will be selected to represent the state in the inter-state cricket tournaments.(SP News Agency)
