Tura Sept 26: Tura Govt. College Students Union (TGCSU) is an independent body which is elected by the bonafide students of the Tura Govt. College for the one year to work for the welfare of the students in particular and community of Garo Hills in general. TGCSU seeks the requirement of the college like insufficient of teaching staff, ministerial staff, introducing of new subject from the state Govt. but they fail to make success in all our demands and they(state Govt.) only look upon our demands when we start our agitation.
At present, we don’t have the full- fledge Principal, Vice Principal’ insufficient lecture in all the departments and the insufficient of college building comparing to the no. of student’s i.e. more than 5000 students. Tura state Govt. is not concern about the education of the youth of the state and the scholarship given to the students are also very less comparing to the other North-Eastern State.
For all these reasons there is always agitation from the students community to have a quality education like other state and even the Govt. employee teachers are also doing agitation against the Govt. now a days , from tis we came to understand that the State Govt. is completely fail to look after the education of the state.
The TGCSU said “We don’t want to agitate against the Govt. by wasting our valuable and precious time but the situation itself force us to do such agitation. We the students are not the agitators but the Govt. itself invites the agitation form the student’s community. And for pressuring the state Govt. they always want to dismiss the students union, and they are looking forward for their opportunities to end up the TGCSU and also all the pressure group from entire Meghalaya. So, they can become a dictatorship Govt”.
As appear in section of the media that the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Bakshi of West Garo Hills had gave an order to dissolve the TGCSU and to not allow the present member to participate in the next election.
As the Asst. General Secretary of TGCSU I Shri. Balrang Raka Ch. Momin Condemn the baseless and the immature order given by the D.C West Garo Hills that the TGCSU is totally independent body and we are not appointed by the Govt. or by the Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills.
TGCSU is purely student’s body and elected by the bonafide students of Tura Govt. College. The Deputy Commissioner nor the College authority have no right to dissolve or intervene the functioning of the TGCSU as pert the Constitution of TGCSU Articles x { Clause(i)} :- Dissolution against the Students Union can be passed by the two third majority of the total strength of the general students if and when its activities will be against the interest of the students.
General Secretary of TGCSU Shri. Balkarin Ch. Marak says that if the college authority or Deputy Commissioner Mr. Bakshi disobey the constitution of the TGCSU then we will seek the judgment from the Supreme Court, New Delhi. “We will tell you Mr. Bakshi that you cannot dissolve us in any way and we will not accept your dissolution since you are neither a Chairman nor the member of the TGCSU” .(SP News)
