Shillong, March 11: The A•chik Baptist Dal•gipa Krima No. IV, a Garo Baptist association based in Tura, has urged all residents to participate in a special prayer service aimed at restoring peace and harmony in the Garo Hills region.

In a statement issued recently, the association appealed to the public to come together in prayer during this crucial time, emphasizing the importance of unity, compassion, and mutual understanding among communities.

According to the organization, the main objective of the prayer service is to guide people towards the right path, eliminate hatred, and foster communal harmony in the region. The association also called upon people to pray for those who have been affected by the recent unrest as well as for individuals and authorities who are actively engaged in efforts to restore peace and stability.

The church body stressed that collective prayer and solidarity among citizens can play a vital role in healing divisions and strengthening the spirit of brotherhood across the Garo Hills.

Leaders of the association further expressed hope that through prayer and cooperation, peace and normalcy would soon prevail in the region.

Meanwhile, the Mother’s Union, Tura has also appealed to the general public to refrain from unlawful activities such as vandalism and other antisocial acts, stating that such actions will not help achieve any positive outcome.

The group further urged people to remain calm and work towards restoring peace, noting that the elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) have been postponed, leaving sufficient time to follow due process and make necessary amendments regarding the rules governing who can contest the elections.

“Violence will not help achieve anything,” the union stated, adding that as mothers they wish to see lasting peace in Garo Hills and hope for a future where their children can prosper.

The organisation expressed hope that the public will heed their appeal and work collectively towards maintaining peace and harmony in the region.
