New Delhi January 17: Asian Centre for Human Rights (ACHR) has the pleasure to invite the media persons to its press conference for the release of its report, “India’s Funds to NGOs Squandered” wherein ACHR will expose scam on NGO funding worth hundreds of cores. As India’s economy grows and NGOs become Important partners, thousands of cores are being sanctioned to the NGOs by different Central Ministries and the State Governments.
“India’s Funds to NGOs Squandered”, completed after two and half years, is the first ever comprehensive study with respect to the grants given by the Central Government of India and the State Governments to the voluntary sector. The study covers grants made by 33 Ministries of the Government of India and 26 State Governments since 2002. The study analyses the scale of the grants and procedures for grant making, and (absence of) mechanisms for monitoring, evaluation and accountability that have led to siphoning off hundreds of cores of tax payers’ money. It also makes specific recommendations to the Government of India.(SP News)
