Shillong, March 11: Booking of accommodation in Meghalaya houses across the country made digital making it easier for the citizens of the State to reserve accommodations.

This landmark initiative was launched today by Shri. Sosthenes Sohtun the Minister in-charge, General Administration Department in the presence of Shri. Subir Marak, MLA Rangsakona Constituency.

The officer who were presence are Shri. Sampath Kumar, IAS, Resident Commissioner, Meghalaya House, New Delhi; Shri. Ramkumar S, IAS, Officer on Special Duty, Meghalaya House, Vellore; the Additional Resident Commissioner, Meghalaya House, New Delhi.

The  Additional Resident Commissioner, Meghalaya House, Mumbai; the Additional Resident Commissioner, Meghalaya House, Kolkata; Shri. Santhosh V T, DDG; State Informatics Officer, NIC Meghalaya; the Officer on Special Duty, Meghalaya House, Guwahati; the Secretary, General Administration Department; NIC officials; the Joint Secretary, General Administration Department; the Deputy Secretary, General Administration (A) Department and the staffs of General Administration (A) Department.

This initiative brings a new era of convenience and efficiency for the citizens of the state seeking accommodation. The introduction of the online booking system will enable visitors to conveniently reserve accommodations in Meghalaya Houses across the country.

This digital initiative aims to provide a seamless and efficient experience for guests allowing users to book rooms at their preferred location and dates, making it easier for the officials and general public to plan their stay.

The system has been developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Meghalaya as part of the State’s ongoing efforts to strengthen digital governance and improve service delivery to citizens and government officials.

Meghalaya Houses situated in Delhi, Mumbai, Vellore, Kolkata, and Guwahati serve as important state facilities providing accommodation and related services for government officials, students, and citizens travelling for official duties, medical treatment, excursion, and other purposes.

The newly launched online platform replaces the earlier manual, paper-based process with an efficient digital system. Through the new portal, users can conveniently apply for rooms, dormitories, or conference halls online using SMS-based OTP login by visitinghttps://gad.meghalaya.gov.in/meghhouse/ or by scanning the above QR Code, while receiving updates on their application status via SMS alerts.

The system also integrates secure digital payments through the GRAS payment gateway, enabling cashless transactions via UPI, debit/credit cards, and online banking.

For the administration, the platform introduces a structured digital approval workflow and provides a centralized dashboard for managing bookings, tracking occupancy, monitoring revenue, and generating reports, significantly reducing the administrative burden of manual registers and records.

The initiative is expected to enhance operational efficiency, and user convenience, while enabling the Government to make data-driven decisions regarding the management and improvement of Meghalaya House facilities.

The launch marks another step in Meghalaya’s commitment to leveraging technology for responsive and citizen-centric governance. This initiative is expected to enhance the overall experience of visitors to Meghalaya Houses, providing a convenient and efficient booking process and this service is available to the public for use.
