Shillong, November 17: During the intervening night of 16th / 17th Nov’ 2012, on specific input, BSF troops of BOP Naljuri, Ex-108 Bn deployed in East Jaintia Hills district seized a motorcycle (Bajaj Discover- 125 CC) worth approx. Rs. 65,000 while being smuggled into Bangladesh at International Border near BP No. 1276/15-S in East Jaintia Hills.
It is worthwhile to mention here that a gang of trans-border motorcycle thieves are operating in border belts of Meghalaya- Bangladesh border, who after stealing motorcycles smuggle it to Bangladesh as they earn about three times the cost in India.
Border Security Force of Meghalaya Frontier have stepped up extra vigil and intensified operations on the International Border to check such activities of smuggling and illegal infiltration and exfiltration and trans-border crimes. Meanwhile, the seized item has been handed over to the concerned police station.(SP News)
