Tura, April o2: The West Garo Hills District Administration has issued a public appeal urging citizens to observe responsible and safe practices during the upcoming Easter celebrations.
In view of increased outdoor activities such as picnics during Easter Sunday and Monday, the administration has called upon the general public to adhere to a set of guidelines aimed at ensuring safety, environmental protection, and a peaceful atmosphere for all.
The appeal emphasizes responsible consumption, requesting people to refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages during picnics in order to maintain a family-friendly environment.
The administration has cautioned against swimming in rivers and other water bodies due to unpredictable weather conditions, urging individuals to prioritize personal safety.
Citizens have also been encouraged to choose safe picnic locations, preferably at least 50 meters away from riverbanks and avoiding areas with large rock formations to minimize risks.
In line with environmental responsibility, the public is urged to adopt eco-conscious practices, including the use of biodegradable alternatives instead of plastic items such as plates and cups.
The appeal also stressed proper waste management, advising picnickers to carry only essential items and dispose of waste responsibly in designated bins or take it back after use to maintain cleanliness.
The public have been requested to maintain a considerate conduct by avoiding loud music and any activity that may disturb others enjoying the surroundings.
The Deputy Commissioner, Vibhor Aggarwal, has appealed to all citizens to cooperate and follow these guidelines to ensure a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment during Easter celebration.
“Let us celebrate Easter with joy, responsibility, and respect for nature and one another,” the appeal stated.
