Drukair flight from Guwahati to Bangkok takes off, supporting tourism, business

Guwahati, April 02: Drukair Expands Regional Connectivity with Reintroduction of Bangkok Services via Guwahati. Drukair, Royal Bhutan Airlines has reintroduced twice-weekly flights from Paro to Bangkok via Guwahati effective today, and commenced a third weekly frequency on the Singapore route effective 07 April 2026.

This expansion marks a significant milestone in strengthening regional connectivity between Bhutan, Northeast India, and Southeast Asia, while enhancing seamless travel opportunities for both passengers and cargo.

The reinstatement of Bangkok services via Guwahati restores a vital regional link that has historically facilitated tourism, medical travel, education, and business exchanges across Bhutan, the North-eastern states of India, and Thailand. As a major regional gateway with extensive global connectivity, Bangkok is expected to play a key role in further stimulating tourism flows and supporting outbound travel from the region.

The expanded services will operate on the Paro–Guwahati–Bangkok (v.v.) and Paro–Guwahati–Singapore (v.v.) sectors, reinforcing Bhutan’s growing connectivity with key international hubs. The additional Singapore frequency has been introduced in response to sustained passenger demand and reflects Drukair’s strategic focus on expanding access to global gateways.

Singapore, as one of the world’s leading aviation and financial hubs, offers seamless onward connectivity across Asia-Pacific, Europe, Australia, and North America. The enhanced frequency will provide greater flexibility, improved scheduling options, and more efficient connections for both inbound and outbound travellers.

Commenting on the development, Mr. Tandi Wangchuk, Chief Executive Officer, Drukair, said, “The introduction of a third weekly service to Singapore and the reinstatement of our Bangkok flights via Guwahati represent a significant step in Drukair’s ongoing network expansion strategy. This expansion aligns with the Government of India’s Act East Policy and supports the growing travel requirements of Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) in southern Bhutan.

Enhanced connectivity is essential to supporting tourism, strengthening business and educational exchanges, and deepening Bhutan’s engagement with global markets.” Adding further, Ms. Jalpa H Vithalani, Group Managing Director, Global Aviation Services Pvt. Ltd., GSA of Drukair stated:

“The reintroduction of flights to Bangkok is more than the launch of a route — it represents a meaningful bridge between communities. It will facilitate tourism, medical travel, education, and business exchanges across Northeast India and Thailand, while strengthening cultural and economic ties across the region.

We are honoured to partner with Drukair in bringing enhanced, world-class connectivity to India and beyond.”, she added.
