Boleng, March 17:In a continuous show of growing regional support for the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP), the Parong village unit of the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project District Committee (SUMPDC) today submitted an additional list of residents extending their consent for the Pre-Feasibility Report (PFR) activities.
Earlier, 67 households from Parong village had signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh. With 7 more households formally submitting their support today, the total number of pro-PFR households in Parong village has now reached 74, marking a crucial step forward in the government’s efforts to gather scientific data and conduct detailed assessments for the proposed initiative.
The formal submission of the pro-PFR list took place in a highly coordinated gathering, reflecting the transparent and inclusive approach maintained by the district administration. Shri Tarin Tali, Chairman, SUMPDC Parong village and its member submitted the formal document to DC Siang Shri Tayi Taggu in the esteemed presence of SP Siang Shri James Lego; and Retd. CE and State Nodal Officer (SUMP) Shri Atek Miyu, ensuring that the administrative and security apparatus remains fully engaged with the local communities and their developmental aspirations. The gathering also included the Executive Engineer (PWD), Executive Engineer (Power), Executive Engineer (DHPD) and the Assistant Engineer (PHED).
The submission of this additional list from Parong village signifies a strengthening consensus among the local populace regarding the long-term socio-economic benefits of the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project. It builds seamlessly upon the recent momentum generated by neighboring villages, including Pugging, Ramsing, and Janbo, which recently signed MoUs to support the PFR stage.
The authorities continue to assure residents that stakeholder engagement remains central to the process, with the current focus resting entirely on scientific assessment to secure a prosperous and well-developed future for the region.
