Maligaon, March 21: The Northeast Frontier Railway Considering that the demand for rail travel by passengers will be vastly reduced during the Janta Curfew i.e. 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM on 22.03.2020 (Sunday).
Accordingly, it has been decided that all local passenger trains originating between midnight of 21/22-03-2020 to 22:00 hours of 22-03-2020 on 22nd March, 2020 will remain cancelled. However, the local passenger train services those already on run at 7:00 hrs. on that day will continue to run to their respective destinations.
Moreover, all long – distance Mail / Express and Intercity trains originating between 04:00 hrs. and 22:00 hrs. on Sunday (22nd March, 2020) will also remain cancelled.
However trains already on run at 7:00 hrs. on that day will continue to run to their respective destinations. Cancellations of trains are expected to restrict the spread of the virus.
It may be mentioned here that NFR is taking all precautionary steps to discourage people from taking non-essential journeys and to encourage social distancing by the passengers for their safety to restrict the spread of the virus. Trains with low occupancy are already being canceled.
