Shillong, March 14: The Superintendent of Police East Garo Hills District said that on the morning of 13th March, 2026, a group of people reported to the District Police that some camouflage dresses and live rounds of ammunitions were found inside the Williamnagar Mosque premises.
Upon enquiry, it was learnt that one Police personnel of East Garo Hills DEF has been residing in a rental accommodation within the Mosque compound. The said personnel, currently on proper leave, left his personal belongings.
The belonging includes his Police uniforms with name plate, belt, boots, camouflage uniforms, ammunition pouch etc., wherein, four number of live ammunitions were also found present.
Since, keeping the ammunitions at a private location other than depositing in the Armoury Kote during the leave period, is unauthorized, the same have been duly seized and a case vide Williamnagar PS Case No. 07/2026 I/S 25(1-A) Arms Act has been registered against him for initiating strict legal action.
Further, it is hereby appealed to the public to refrain from uploading or spreading false information on social media platforms with malicious intent. Failing to comply with this appeal shall be viewed seriously and shall attract serious legal action said the Superintendent of Police, East Garo Hills District, Meghalaya Mr. A.S Rynjah in the press statement.
