The traditional cake mixing ceremony kicks off one month before Christmas and is believed to bring about good fortune and joyous time. Long before the cake is actually prepared, it’s the enthusiasm and vigour in mixing a variety of ingredients that herald the spirit of holiday cheer.
During this time, an array of fruits and nuts are collected and incorporated into the delicious and time-honoured plum cake. All the elements, including spirits, dried fruits, cherries, dates, and spices, are meticulously blended and soaked in alcoholic beverages like brandy, rum, and wine, allowing them to mature before the baking process takes place.
