Shillong, April 01: With regards to the proposed Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, Meghalaya BJP MLA, Shri AL Hek has approached the top Central leadership asking for a meaningful engagement with all stakeholders before the bill is passed in Parliament.
Shri Hek, in a letter addressed to Party President Shri Nitin Nabin and Honourable Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, has pointed out to the philanthropic activities carried out by non-profit organizations, including the Church, in the state of Meghalaya; activities whose immeasurable impact is reflected in the life of every citizen of the state.
Shri AL Hek has also urged that a careful balance be maintained between ensuring accountability and maintaining functional independence of credible non profit organizations.
