Meghalaya Dy Speaker attends 86th all India presiding officers’ conference in UP

Shillong, Jan 19: The Deputy Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Shri Limison D. Sangma, is attending the 86th All India Presiding Officers’ Conference (AIPOC) being held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The three-day conference commenced on Monday and will continue till January 21, 2026.

Shri Sangma is being accompanied by the Secretary of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Shri Malthus S. Sangma. Earlier on Monday, Shri Malthus S. Sangma attended the 62nd Conference of Secretaries of Legislative Bodies in India, held as part of the conference schedule.

The Lok Sabha Speaker, Shri Om Birla, addressed the inaugural session of the conference, During the conference, presiding officers, secretaries of legislative bodies, and other distinguished representatives from across the country will engage in wide-ranging deliberations on legislative procedures, parliamentary traditions, conduct of the House, good governance, and contemporary legislative issues.

The deliberations will also focus on key themes such as leveraging technology for transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric legislative processes, capacity building of legislators to enhance efficiency and strengthen democratic governance, and ensuring accountability of legislatures to the public.The conference will conclude on January 21, 2026, with the Valedictory Address by Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla.
