Shillong,March 15: Whereas the Governor of Meghalaya has received apetition from wenty one members of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council dated 14h March,2026, that the Chief Executive Member of the Council
has lost the confidence of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council.
Now, therefore in exercise of the powers conferred under sub-rule (5) of
Rule 36 of the Assam and Meghalaya Autonomous Districts (Constitution of
District Councils) Rules, 1951, as amended by the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council, the Governor of Meghalaya is pleased to summon a session of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council to meet on the 16h March, 2026 at 11.00 A.M in the District Council Hall, Tura for conduct of the proceedings under Rule 22(1) and subsequent business as may be necessary in accordance with the Assam and Meghalaya Autonomous Districts (Constitution of District Councils)
Rule 1951.
The Governor is also pleased to authorize the Chairman of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council to preside over the aforesaid session in accordance with the relevant rules of the Assam and Meghalaya Autonomous Districts (Constitution of District Councils) Rule 1951.
