Ampati, Feb 07: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma laid the base for the 10 bedded Integrated Ayush Hospital at Meringipara in South West Garo Hills on February 7, 2026. The base was laid in the presence of Mahendraganj MLA Sanjay A Sangma and Salmanpara MLA Ian Botham K Sangma.
The hospital being constructed under the National Ayush Mission, Meghalaya will play an important role in strengthening the primary and secondary health services in the district.
The infrastructure will provide an outpatient department, inpatient care, promote preventive health care, provide health care that are affordable and accessible especially by rural and underprivileged communities.
The hospital is envisioned not only as a treatment center but also as a wellness and awareness hub through the introduction of yoga, lifestyle counseling, dietary guidance and traditional therapies.
Addressing the gathering Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma commended local MLA Sanjay A Sangma for his diligent efforts in bringing change and development in his constituency through coordination between concerned efforts and stake holders.
He informed that the proposed hospital will provide much needed health care facilities to the people of the region. Speaking on the unique facets of the Ayush hospital the Chief Minister said that the though it may provide health care facilities it would mainly be associated with treatment of lifestyle related disorders and homeopathy.
The Chief Minister also informed that the government was working to promote traditional medicine and that in the future people would be able to avail such medicines in Ayush hospitals around the state.
Highlighting the strategic location of the area in terms of border trade and commerce the Chief Minister said that the state government was working with the Centre to develop the region into a commerce hub.
Earlier, Mahendraganj MLA Sanjay A Sangma acknowledging the contribution of the people of the region and especially the land owners congratulated them for making the construction of the Ayush hospital possible..
South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Anendya Raajsshre, IAS, in her welcome address thanked the Chief Minister for his continued guidance and support towards strengthening the Health Care infrastructure in the district. She said that the Hospital will play as significant role in providing accessible holistic and affordable health care services to the people of this region
