Meghalaya police recovers 203.7 Gm of herion, meth 10.145 Kg from Ratacherra

Shillong, March 07: A team of ANTF officers and personnel conducted a coordinated Naka checking operation in Ratacherra, East Jaintia Hills on 06th March 2026.

During the operation one Tata Sumo vehicle bearing Registration No. MZ-01-M-8625 was intercepted and subjected to search as per due legal procedure. The vehicle was found to be carrying two passengers along with the driver.

Upon checking, from one of the female passenger possessions, nineteen plastic soap cases containing suspected contraband heroin were recovered, weighing 203.7 grams.

Further search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a blue-coloured trolley bag belonging to the other passenger. The bag was found to contain suspected crystal methamphetamine weighing 10.145 kilograms.

Preliminary analysis suggests that the individuals are part of a larger inter-state and cross-border drug trafficking syndicate. The total value of the recovered and seized contraband is approx. Rs. 51,13,24,000/- in the illegal market.

It is the highest value recovery of NDPS substances by Meghalaya Police.  Case has been registered at the ANTF police station and team is actively working to establish the forward and backward linkages related to the case.
