MIT University of Meghalaya welcomes new semester students to AIBOR-2025 orientation day

Shillong, July 15, 2025: In a vibrant and welcoming ceremony, MIT University, Shillong, conducted its Orientation Program on July 15, 2025, at the picturesque Lariti International Centre for Performing Arts and Culture marking the official beginning of the academic journey for their freshers.

The event brought together enthusiastic students from across the country, representing the School of Management, MIT Institute of Design (MITID), the School of Liberal Studies, and the School of Science and Technology.

The program was graced by senior faculty members, academic leaders, and administrative officials of the university, who warmly welcomed the new batch and shared their insights about the university’s vision, values, and interdisciplinary approach to education. The serene cultural setting of Lariti, nestled amidst the scenic beauty of Meghalaya, provided a fitting backdrop for this milestone event.

In the inaugural address, Dr. Malhar Pangrikar, the Vice Chancellor of MIT University, Shillong, emphasized that today is a meaningful milestone, symbolizing the fusion of dreams, opportunities, and responsibilities.

“At MIT University of Meghalaya, we don’t believe education is only about degrees or placements. We see it as a transformative journey — one that builds character, competence, and consciousness”, he said.

Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharya, Pro-Vice Chancellor of MIT University of Meghalaya, addressed the audience with insights into the university’s academic vision, highlighting innovative programs, interdisciplinary learning, and a student-centric approach aimed at nurturing intellectual growth, practical skills, and global competence.

The Deans of the respective schools introduced their faculties and departments, outlining the programs, expectations, and opportunities awaiting the students. Interactive sessions, ice-breaking activities, and cultural performances by senior students helped ease the newcomers into the vibrant university culture.

A truly inspiring message to the students of 2025–26. Entering during such a transformative time for India, students are rightly seen not just as future professionals, but as innovators and nation-builders shaping the country’s future.
