Shillong, Dec 30: The North Eastern Students Organisation (NESO) has written to the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami on the brutal killing of Angel Chakma.
The North East Students’ Organisation (NESO), representing eight major students’ movements of the seven states of the North East Region, send you this memorandum to draw your kind attention to the recent violent incident in Dehradun on the 9th of December 2025 in which a student from Tripura, Mr Angel Chakma who was only 24 years of age was beaten and stabbed resulting to his death on the 26th December 2025 after struggling for his life for over two weeks in the hospital and also his brother Mr Micheal Chakma was also assaulted.
The only reason being they looked differently from the rest of the Aryan race and were hurled with racial abuses which were demeaning and degrading. NESO vehemently condemns such atrocities perpetrated against the North East people and it may be reminded that people from North East have been facing nthese kind of harassments in different parts of India which in many cases have proved to be fatal for their well being.
The submission is for your urgent intervention and do the needful for effective measures by the appropriate authorities which could give mental, social and physical security to the students and people of the North Eastern region studying and residing in Dehradun and other parts of Uttarakhand.
In the light of the above contention, the NESO is placing the following demands, Capital punishment to the perpetrators of the heinous crime at the earliest. At least one Special Police Station should be established for dealing with cases related to racial discrimination and atrocities on NE s people.
