Maligaon, July 03: The Dog Squad of Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Northeast Frontier Railway helped in recovering huge quantity of Ganja and mobile handsets while conducting drives against carrying of contraband articles at Badarpur Railway station from 30th June till 01st July, 2022.
The Ganja weighing about 15.5 kgs worth Rs 1.55 lakhs and 24 no’s mobile handsets worth Rs 2.4 lakhs were recovered during the checking. In an incident on 28th June, 2022, RPF Dog Squad Badarpur conducted a drive against contraband, explosive and other suspected articles in Train no. 15663 (Agartala – Silchar) Express.
During the drive they detected one unclaimed bag. On opening the bag, they found three packets of Ganja weighing about 7.5 kgs worth Rs. 75,000 (approx). In another incident on 30th June, 2022, RPF Dog Squad-Badarpur while conducting a drive on train no. 15663 detected one unclaimed trolley bag.
On opening the bag, they found five packets of Ganja weighing about 5 kgs, worth Rs. 50,000 approximately . In another incident on the same day on the same train the same RPF Dog Squad Badarpur detected one unclaimed bag.
On opening the bag, they found one packet containing 24 no’s old and used android mobile phone handsets worth Rs 2.4 lakhs approximatly . Later, the recovered Ganja and mobile handsets were handed over to OC of GRP of Badarpur for further action.
Moreover, in a recent incident on 01st July, 2022, RPF Dog Squad Badarpur while checking in Train no. 15663 detected one unclaimed bag inside the toilet of a coach. On opening the bag, they found two packets of Ganja weighing about 3 kgs, worth Rs. 30,000/-.Later, the recovered Ganja were handed over to OC of GRP of Badarpur for further action.
It is evident that the fully trained dog squad of the Railway Protection Force of RPF are helping to detect suspicious luggage containing contraband items. RPF remains always alert at railway premises and trains to keep vigil on any suspected activities and elements.
