New Delhi, March 14: Representatives from different parts of the country were honored during the Jal Mahotsav, organized by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.
The national event was graced by the Hon’ble President of India Smt. Draupadi Murmu, who led the Jal Kalash ceremony and felicitated selected Community Members from across States and UTs for their exemplary contribution to rural drinking water governance and celebrated the efforts of individuals and stakeholders who have actively contributed to the successful implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission, a flagship initiative aimed at providing safe and adequate drinking water through functional household tap connections to every rural household in India.
During the ceremony, participants were presented with certificates acknowledging their dedication and commitment to strengthening community participation, water governance, and sustainable water management practices.
The program highlighted the importance of collaboration between government institutions, community leaders, and field representatives in achieving the vision of “Har Ghar Jal.”
Jal Mahotsav served as a platform for sharing experiences, recognizing achievements, and motivating stakeholders to continue working toward ensuring reliable and sustainable drinking water access for all.
At the national celebration, 11 awardees from Meghalaya were recognised for their outstanding contributions towards strengthening rural water supply and sustainability under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
Recognition of Villages demonstrating continuous 24×7 rural water supply excellence were honoured to Massar village from Pynursla Block, followed by Nongdewsaw village from Ranikor Block and Pahamjri village from Umling Block.
Recognition was also given to villages showing exemplary financial sustainability through efficient user charge collection, to Nongsohpian village from Nongstoin Block, followed by Jendragre village from Rongram Block and Tynriang village from Pynursla Block.
Under the Distinguished Sarpanch and Headman Award for leadership in rural piped water supply management, Shri Spiland Jyrwa from Pyndendiwah village under Mawkyrwat Block followed by Shri Aikolos Ramri from Umsaw village under Nongstoin Block were recognised for their exemplary leadership and efforts in managing piped water supply systems in their respective villages.
