Shillong, May 02: Today, 2th May 2021 is the second day of the 10-Day Containment Period in Shillong city where vehicular movement was observed reduced across the city. Persons plying for essential purposes were permitted after substantiating purpose of travel.
On the first day, however some vehicles were stopped by police and magistrate on duty to checked and during the checking some people were using expired using passes or for false declaration. They were giving warming From Monday onwards fines will be imposed.
The Deputy Commissioner has issued instructions to all enforcement personnel to permit persons Carrying essential items construction material, and other purposes as permitted, persons seeking medical have been facilitated.
It is reiterated that goverment order permits person under essential categories to self declare carrying essential items construction materials.
Many request for online passes were also observed for non essential reason without substantive documents. This ofice will expedite all passes of an urgent nature, and for any delay or clarity the district helpline may be contacted. It is reiterated that people are encouraged to stay home, and move out only for essential purposes.
On the first day of containment measure 1971 doses of vaccination were administered which fals below the achievement on the previous days. While the containment measures may account for this, heavy rain in the morning hours also contributed to the low turnout. All citizens above 45 are encouraged to come out for vaccination without apprehension.

On the second day of Containment measure 2/5/2021 today being Sunday ,vaccination is conducted at Civil Hospital, Shillong. Hope Clinic, Jail Road, Orchid Hotel Pola, RP Chest (Upper Mawprem), Ramakrishna Mission Laitumkhrah, Police Bazar Muda Parking Lot and JN Stadium Anexe.
Stringent checks were conducted at Mawiong Checkpoint. Onc bus carrying retunees from outside the state to Shillong was intercepted for escaping Umling and directed to move to Polo for testing. A bus transiting through Meghalaya enroute to Silchar was checked, and passengers disembarking at Shilong were directed to undergo testing.
Two cases of violation of isolation protocol were reported and appropriate instructions have been given to magistrate. Concerned headmen have also been alerted. Four shops were closed in Golf Link Pdengshnong by the Dorbur Shnong with intimation to the Incident Commander for violation o protocol.
Many requests have been received by parents to permit inter-district travel to Shillong for pick-up of students who will finish their board exams on the 3rd May. One-day passes for the same will be issued by the concerned Deputy Commissioners, BDOs.
The Deputy Commissioner inform that four residential complexes were declared as micro-containment areas to prevent movement of people to the contagious zone and for further contact tracing.
