The BSF is committed to take care of Border population with special attention: Lokesh

Shillong, Dec 05: As a part of Border Management Plan, a Civic Action Programme was organized by the 97 Bn BSF of the Meghalaya Frontier on 04/12/2021 at BOP Umkiang. In the series of several public outreach programmes 97 Bn BSF organized a visit/excursion for school children of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Umkiang (East Jaintia Hills).

Under this programme 76 children 16 Boys & 60 Girls of Holy Cross School alongwith Sister Miss Clare Sabs Principal and 05 Teachers, Total 82 Pers were taken to visit from BOP Umkiang (Holy Cross School) to general area Malidor in vicinity to BOP Rattachera and back.

They were exposed to the functioning of BSF in Border domination, management & students were motivated to join CAPF as their career. The tour was organized and facilitated by 97 Bn BSF by providing transportation in the remotely situated border area and nutritious refreshment and enriched lunch to all the children and teachers.

To develop a goodwill gesture among the Border population and their children, students, BSF organizes these kinds of activities through its Civic Action Programme to strengthen the bond with border population. School & the students expressed their gratitude to BSF for facilitating their excursion and visit to the border area.

The excursion was knowledge oriented and a memorable one, Sister Clare Sabs (Principal) and students appreciated and expressed their gratitude to the Comdt 97 Bn BSF for facilitating their visit and gave very positive feedback. They further requested that these kinds of trips should be organized regularly for the remotely situated border areas.

This is an initiative from BSF to establish peace and harmony in the society.       Sh. Lokesh Bansal, Assistant Commandant motivated students and emphasized on the usefulness of education, good health and young generation role in nation building. He also briefed children about education schemes run by the Govt. of India and enrolment procedure into CAPF.

The BSF is committed to take care of Border population with special attention to the children and peoples of far-flung border areas, which are almost cut off from main land due to heavy rainfall, over flooded Nallahs and poor mobile connectivity.
