Shillong, March 09: In view of the prevailing law and order situation in the district and the opposition of the participation of non-tribals to the General Election of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), 2026 in West Garo Hills District.
And Whereas, there may be a possibility of obstruction or intimidation of movement of
vehicles and there is every likelihood of disruption of the normal life of the people which is likely to cause inconvenience to general public.
And Whereas, such obstruction or intimidation etc if not prevented may lead to breach of peace which may result in disturbance of public tranquility leading to injury, loss of property or riot or affray.
Now, therefore, in exercise of powers conferred upon me under Section 163 BNSS 2023. “I Shri Vibhor Aggarwal, IAS, District Magistrate, West Garo Hills, Tura do hereby imposed curfew from 12:00 a.m. of 10 March, 2026 to 12:00 a.m. of 11” March, 2026, prohibiting the following:
a. Causing obstruction to the movement of vehicles etc.
b. Carrying/concealing on person of lathis, sticks, stones, missiles, firearms or any kind of leathal weapons, by any person or group of persons or organisation.
c. Causing obstruction in legal operation of shops/ establishments/ offices etc.
d. Unlawful assembly of five or more people aimed at causing any of the above obstruction is prohibited.
Any violation of this order shall attract penal provisions under Section 223 of the BNS
and any other relevant sections as deemed fit and appropriate.
As the circumstance of the case are emergent in nature, this order is issued ex-parte. This
order will extend to entire West Garo Hills District and shall come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force until further orders. Given under my hand and seal of office this 9 March, 2026.
