Shillong, Sept 21: The Police East Khasi Hills District on the night of 19th September, 2023 at 11:00 PM, information was received that one person was lying unconscious on the roadside at Laitkor.
The Police rushed to the spot and found one person was lying in a pool of blood within the compound of a vehicle workshop belonging to Shri Farid Mukhim at Laitkor Mawrie, Lumheh. On careful observation, it was found that the person had injury marks on his head and that he appeared to be dead.
On suspicion of murder, the Crime Scene Unit Team was informed for obtaining clues and evidences from the place of occurrence. One steering wheel which is suspected to have been used for committing the offence and a mineral water bottle with half a bottle of liquor were seized from the spot.
On the morning of 20th September, 2023 the dead body was shifted to NEIGHRIMS Hospital, Shillong. The relatives of the deceased victim arrived and they identified him as late William Nongrum 36 years after observing all legal formalities, the dead body was handed over to the relatives.
In this connection, a case has been registered vide Madanrting P.S Case No. 96(09)2023 U/S 302 IPC and two accused have been arrested within 48 (forty eight) hours of commission of the Crime.
