Shillong, August 22: The Legal Care and Support Centre of the Department of Law, NEHU, Shillong organized a Legal Awareness Programme at Mawkynroh, Umshing recently.
During the program, important information relating to the rights of women and children, cyber security, child labor, etc. wasdisseminated by the students of the Department under the guidance of Professor J.J. Mozika who is in charge of the Centre.
Prof. Mozika also delivered a speech on the provisions of free legal aid under the Constitution of India and informed people about thefree services available in theLegal Care and Support Centre of the University.
The program was attended by Mr. L. Nongkhlaw, the Headman of Mawkynroh, Umshing, and other prominent members of the Dorbar Shnong. Mr.L. Nongkhlawencouraged the residents of the locality to know their rights and duties.
He thanked Prof. Mozika and the scholars &students of the Department of Law stating that conducting such programs of noble cause does great service to the common people. Mr. V. Marwein, Treasurer of the Dorbar Shnong presented the vote of thanks and encouraged the students to conduct such programs in the future also.
