Shillong, August 25: Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, AVSM, VSM on a official visit reviewed the activities of NCC Directorate, North Eastern Region (NCC, NER) on 25 August 2022. He was received by Major General Bhaskar Kalita, YSM, Additional Director General, at NCC Directorate NER and was introduced to all officers.
The DG NCC was then briefed by the Additional Director General and Deputy Director General of NCC North Eastern Region and all eight NCC Group Commanders of NER.
He also inspected NCC Directorate NER, Shillong, reviewed NCC activities, and gave awards to meritorious cadets and staff. He also called on Shri SatyaPal Malik, Hon’ble Governor of Meghalaya and Shri Lahkmen Rymbui, Hon’ble Minister of Education and discussed various NCC related issues.
During the visit, DG NCC applauded the high levels of spirit, motivation and dedication of NCC cadets from the NE region. He has directed that additional training equipment, infrastructure and funds to be granted to North Eastern Region for further improvement of standards.
The NCC contingent from NER had performed commendably during the Republic Day Parade and Independence Day Celebrations held at New Delhi and won the appreciation of one and all.
The DG NCC stated that NCC is the largest uniformed youth organization of the country which is totally dedicated to grooming the youth of the nation to become better future citizens and leaders and instil more sense of patriotism and nationalism.
During media interaction, the DG NCC highlighted the various contributions of NCC in NE region. He also lauded the efforts on Social Service and Community Development activities like Puneet Sagar Abhiyan, Blood Donation Camps etc.
The NCC cadets had actively participated in events like Har Ghar Tiranga, Shaheedon Ko Shat Shat Naman, International Day of Yoga etc which helped connect to the society.
