Shillong, March 26, 2026: An important initiative under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MoYAS), Government of India, aimed at fostering dialogue, leadership, and civic participation among the youth, the MY Bharat Meghalaya under the Department of Youth Affairs (DoYA), Government of India, will be organizing the State Level Edition of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament Festival (VBYPF) 2026.
The programme will be held on Saturday, 28th March 2026, at the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Annexe Hall, Rilbong. The event is being conducted in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, the NSS State Nodal Office Meghalaya, and with active support from the Meghalaya State Assembly Secretariat.
The State Level competition will witness participation from the top five winners from each of the eight district-level Youth Parliament competitions conducted recently across Meghalaya. These participants will showcase their oratory skills and perspectives on the theme:
“Union Budget 2026: Strengthening the Indian Youth’s Path Towards Viksit Bharat 2047.”
The initiative leverages the MY Bharat platform as a dynamic bridge connecting the youth of India with policymakers and national leadership. The top three winners from the State Level competition will earn the opportunity to represent Meghalaya at the National Level Youth Parliament, scheduled to be held next month at the Parliament of India, New Delhi, where they will engage with peers from across the country.
Objectives of the Programme,To encourage youth engagement with public issues and develop articulate expression of informed opinions, To strengthen leadership qualities and civic awareness through participatory activities, To promote respect and tolerance for diverse viewpoints
To provide exposure to policy-making processes through structured platforms such as debates and Youth Parliaments, To document youth perspectives on the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 for policymakers, To inspire youth through interaction with Members of Parliament and state leadership,To showcase emerging talent among Indian youth.
Programme Format, The Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament Festival 2026 is conducted in three stages, District Round: Conducted across 757 districts nationwide, where participants delivered 3-minute speeches in multilingual formats. Five participants from each district qualified for the State Round. State Round: Selected candidates compete at the state level, with the top three advancing to the National Round. National Round: Finalists will participate in parliamentary-style deliberations at the Parliament of India, interacting with policymakers, mentors, and national leaders.
The event marks a significant step toward empowering young voices and integrating their ideas into the nation-building process, aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
