Shillong, June 20: The Garo Student’s Union today has written to the Vice Chancellor of North Eastern Hills University Prof Prabha Shankar Shukla to inform that the student body will agitate of indefinite agitation angst non fulfillment of the various demand of the student’s community at Tura Campus.
The demand that the GSU has made, that the Vice Chancellor of NEHU should appoint the Pro Vice Chancellor to Tura Campus, in the letter sent today through Tura office the student’s body has convey their disappointment against non-fulfillment of the various demands of the Students which was assured to the students community.
That, in their previous meeting they had made specific requests and demands Priority among them being the appointment of new Pro V.C. for Tura Campus. Against which had assured, promised and to look into the matter and facilitate the appointment as soon as possible.
Since the appointment of Pro Vice Chancellor was not made till date this has clearly evident that the VC of NEHU have taken the students body for a ride with false assurance and lip services and that with no intentions on following his promises.
The GSU said that is evident is the fact that neither the welfare nor progress of the University nor the Students is of any concern to you. As despite very genuine issues being raised.
The solution to which will potentially usher progress in functions and Administration and bring about massive benefits to the student’s community the solution which lies at your hand, you have decided to neglect and turn a blind eye.
The Garo Students’ Union and the Post Graduate Students’ Union have Decided to put forward a No-Compromise Stance and hence serving this Ultimatum of Seven days starting today to immediately make good on yourPromise and appoint a New Pro V.C. within the deadline period of Seven days.
After which the Garo Students Union and the Post Graduate Students Union will hold an indefinite agitation until the demands are met. In interest of the welfare of the Students Community, they request the Vice chancellor to take the right decision for the welfare of the student’s letter was sign by Zikku. Balgra N.
