The Joint Working Group between Assam Riffle and Indian Coast Guard held in Shillong

Shillong, May 28: The 5th meeting of Joint Working Group (JWG) between Assam Rifles and Indian Coast Guard was held at Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles, Laitkor, Shillong on 28th May 2024.

The Meeting was chaired by Lieutenant General P C Nair, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, PhD, Director General Assam Rifles. The delegation of Indian Coast Guard consisted of DIG Pankaj Verma, TM, DIG Pramod Pokhriyal and Commandant Ranjan Biswas.

The Joint Working Group meeting between Assam Rifles and Indian Coast Guard is conducted every year to enhance Inter Force Cooperation and integration.

Assam Rifles and the Indian Coast Guard, the two premier Border Guarding Forces of the nation were formally affiliated with each other on 22 May 2019 in Shillong, at the HQ DG Assam Rifles location in Laitkor.

The emphasis of the 5th meeting of Joint Working Group (JWG) between Assam Rifles and Indian Coast Guard was on greater understanding of operational ethos, building camaraderie, utilization of each others assets for training, sports and adventure.

The meeting also aimed at understanding the organisation and working ethos of each other and imbibe the good practices from each other for efficient completion of humanitarian missions undertaken by both Forces
