Shillong, May 06: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) central body General Secretary Mr Donald V Thabah files a First Information Report (FIR) with the police in the Criminal Investigation Department, Government of Meghalaya Mr Aditya Goenka, SSP against the advertisement promoted by the Begin Live Application on Facebook (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.athena.beginlive).
The KSU in the FIR said that the Union would like to bring to your notice that the ‘Begin Live App'(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.athena.beginlive) has misused the location of the state in promoting their advertisement they have also enclosed the attachment on Facebook and enhancing their maket altogether.
The KSU came to know that it has been developed through bots to automatically videocall or message any installer of this app by luring them with women pictures collecting from various social media platform on regional basis whether with consensus or without is highly questionable and before the app works, it will automatically direct to payment mode to get through the messaging and video calling activities.
This app has been developed in Hong Kong, by the address Rm906 Tower A, viking technology and business center, 93 Ta Chuen Ping Street. Kwai C and the e-mail- athenainyernetional@gmail.com as shown in the Google Playstore.
The Union is concerned about the growing numbers of young women and men falling into the trap of such activities that is happening in the internet and social media platform and also other similar apps that promotes to objectify women and minor girls as it might be an easy way for these developers to channelize them to the prostitution-like industry.
The developer of the app is highly questionable whether it is from the overseas or not but these apps needs to be highlighted to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to monitor and take strict measures and action.
The KSU sincerely hope that from the CID will intervene in this matter for the overall interest of the state of Meghalaya and the KSU said Mr Donald V Thabah General Secretary Khasi Students’ Union Central Executive Council in the FIR.
