Shillong, Feb 12: The Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Government of Meghalaya today hosted a briefing session for the National Level Monitoring (NLM) Team from the Government of India, New Delhi, at the Office of the Director, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, Shillong on 12th February, 2026.
The session was chaired by Dr. (Ms.) A. Chyne, Director, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, in the presence of Dr. M.D. Sharma ,(ISS) Deputy Director and Nodal Officer for Central Sector Schemes , along with senior departmental officers and representatives from implementing agencies.
The National Level Monitoring Team, comprising Dr. Mihir Mondal (NLM, DAHD) and Dr. Mahesh Katara National Level Monitoring empanelled by DAHD to visit the State to review and assess the progress of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes being implemented by the Department.
The four existing schemes to be reviewed i.e the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), National Livestock Mission (NLM), Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme (LHDCP), National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD), and other allied livestock development initiatives during their visit 12th – 16th February 2026.
The NLM Team will also undertake field visits to East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, and West Garo Hills districts to inspect project sites, interact with beneficiaries, and assess the ground-level impact of the schemes.
The visit aims to strengthen monitoring mechanisms, ensure transparency and accountability, and provide constructive feedback for further improvement of livestock development programmes in Meghalaya.
